Journey uses artificial intelligence throughout its services, including JIVA, Journey’s AI agent. This page explains what that means, where AI can be wrong, and what to check before you rely on it.
JIVA is AI
JIVA is Journey’s AI agent. It uses artificial intelligence, including models from third-party AI providers, to explain your compensation, benefits, and equity and to answer your questions.
Like all AI, JIVA can make mistakes. It can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date — and it can sound confident while being wrong. Verify important information before acting on it, especially when a decision has financial, tax, legal, or benefits consequences.
AI also appears elsewhere in Journey — in summaries, comparisons, and document interpretation. The same limitations apply wherever Journey’s output is AI-generated.
The information Journey’s AI uses
Journey’s AI may use information you provide, information your employer provides, plan and equity documents, payroll and HR systems connected to Journey, and third-party data providers.
Those sources can themselves be incomplete, delayed, or wrong, and Journey may miscategorize or misread them. When source information is available, you can ask JIVA where a number came from.
Your official documents control
Journey is not the authoritative record. If anything Journey shows you conflicts with an applicable plan document, equity agreement, insurance policy, provider or employer record, or applicable law, the governing source controls.
This includes deadlines. Journey surfaces dates like tax election and enrollment windows to help you plan, but the applicable governing deadline controls, and meeting it is your responsibility.
Benefits
Journey can explain and compare your benefit options, costs, and coverage. Eligibility, coverage, exclusions, costs, and deadlines are determined by the applicable plan documents, insurers, administrators, and your employer — not by Journey. Confirm the details in your plan materials before you enroll or make changes.
Equity, retirement, and taxes
Journey can help you understand equity compensation, retirement benefits, and the tradeoffs between choices. Calculations, projections, and scenarios are illustrative: they depend on assumptions and on the information available at the time, and actual outcomes can differ materially.
Equity carries real risk. Private-company shares can be illiquid and can end up worth little or nothing. Tax treatment depends on your individual circumstances and can change over time.
Not professional advice
Journey’s AI-generated outputs — including outputs generated by JIVA — are not a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or exercise any security, are not provided in a fiduciary capacity, and do not create an investment advisory, attorney-client, or similar professional relationship. They are informational and educational.
Journey is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax preparer, accounting firm, or law firm.
If you receive investment, tax, legal, or other professional advice from a licensed professional through Journey, that service is governed by its own terms, disclosures, and professional obligations — not this page.
Before a decision with material investment, tax, or legal consequences, consult a qualified professional.
What Journey won’t do on its own
JIVA does not independently move money, execute trades, exercise options, file taxes, sign documents, or take similar consequential actions on your behalf. Where Journey supports an action — like an enrollment step — it happens only with your explicit authorization.
Humans at Journey
Some questions need a person. When appropriate, Journey may connect you with the right expert. Human experts being available does not mean every AI response was reviewed by a human — assume JIVA’s answers are AI-generated unless a person tells you otherwise.
For anything specific to your personal tax, legal, or investment situation, the right professional may be one you engage directly, like a CPA or attorney.
Your data and your employer
Journey handles what your employer provides and what you add personally under different rules. Exactly what your employer can and cannot see is defined in our Privacy Policy.
Your decisions
Journey helps you understand your options. The decisions are yours, and you are responsible for them. Do not make a significant financial, tax, legal, or benefits decision on an AI answer alone.
Report a problem
If JIVA gives you something that looks wrong, tell us — use the feedback control in the product or contact support@usejourneywealth.com. Reports help us find and fix issues.
